If you’re trying to get more eyeballs on your website or blog, there are a few simple actions you can take right now that can give your SEO rankings a fast and meaningful boost.
But before you start creating new content, it’s smarter…and faster to improve upon what you already have.
And one of the most effective ways to climb up the Google grow your site traffic through SEO, is by updating your existing web pages or blog posts.
I’d like to share some quick SEO tips (that still work) to help you boost your site ranking fast.
Here’s a step-by-step:
Step 1. Identify a target keyword
Start by identifying the keywords your site is already ranking for — specifically those ranking in positions 5 to 15 on search engine results pages (SERPs).
Step 2. Dig deeper by finding keywords that are:
- Relevant to your business or your niche
- Has a reasonable amount of search per month
- Has an easy to moderate competition or KD (keyword difficulty).
I used AHREF’s free keyword generator for this task.
When I wrote my Figma Plugins article, I found the keyword “best figma plugins for designers” most fitting (see below).

It’s a long-tail keyword (between 4 to 7 words long) that gave my “less-authoritative” YDJ Blog an opportunity to rank better on search engines.
Step 3. Add the keyword in the 3 key spots
The three key spots that search engines (especially Google) look through to understand what your web page or blog post is all about are:
- Title tag
- H1 tag
- The first sentence or paragraph
Ensure that your chosen target keyword appears naturally in all of the 3 spots.
I call them the 3 golden nuggets of SEO. Once optimized, they help bring better visibility and will your content climb up the rankings.
That’s it!
My Thoughts
Learning and implementing SEO doesn’t have to be complicated. That’s what I’ve learned.
With a strategic content update using the right keyword strategy, you can see quick improvements in your rankings.
Give it a try, and let me know how it goes.
