USER INTERFACE (UI)

User Interface (UI) is designed to ensure that the interface elements are easily understood, accessible and are able to facilitate those actions by mainly focusing in predicting or anticipating what the users of the product may need or require. Bootstrap UI kit can be installed to assist in developing the interface of the product.

Various concepts such as visual design, interaction design and information architecture are brought together by the User Interface. In selecting the interface elements to use, one should bear in mind that users have familiarized with the certain ways that these elements act and one  should therefore try so much to be predictable and consistent in the making various choices and also in their layout. This will automatically guarantee efficiency, satisfaction and task completion.

Some of these interface elements include: navigational components, input controls, containers and informational components. At times using multiple elements to display content may be appropriate. It is crucial that one considers trade-offs if this happens. There are various practices that are considered to be the best when designing an interface. This is largely because everything arises from understanding the users in terms of their objectives, preferences, skills and tendencies.

After fully understanding the user, the following factors should be considered in designing the interface:

  • Maintain interface simplicity
A user can hardly notice best interfaces since they don’t contain unnecessary elements and also have clear languages used in messaging and on labels.
  • Use consistent and common UI elements
When one uses common elements in the UI, users get things done very quickly since they are comfortable. Another important thing to note is that, during creation of patterns in layout, design and language, should be done throughout the site thus ensure efficiency is facilitated. After the user learns to do a new thing, they should successfully transfer that skill to other parts within the sites.
  • Page layout should be purposeful
Relationship between structures and items on the page should be considered based on importance. If the items are carefully placed, it will help to gather attention to important information which will assist in readability and scanning.
  • Using texture and color strategically
Various items like light, color, texture and contrast can either redirect away attention or draw attention towards them. These items should therefore be strategically utilized to the advantage of the product.
  • Creating hierarchy and clarity by use of typography
Careful consideration should be given on how one uses the typeface .Using different fonts, sizes, and text arrangements will contribute to increased legibility, readability and scalability.
  • Ensuring that the system communicates everything that’s  happening
The system should continually update the user on changes on state, location, errors and actions. Various UI elements should be used to communicate status and if possible the steps that can reduce user’s frustration.
  • Considering defaults
Creating a default will help to minimize burden on the user. This should be done after a careful anticipation of the goals and aims of the people visiting the site. This is very important especially when one wants to form a design that may provide an opportunity to fill out pre-chosen fields.

UX CONCEPTS

UX simply stands for User Experience and refers to the attitudes and feelings of a person towards a particular service, product or even a system. User Experience is a very wide discipline although its key concepts are the same. Some things largely contribute to the User Experience of the site and they should be considered in implementing this strategy.

A good UX should adhere to the various concepts namely: Interaction design, typography, usability, User Interface, information architecture, functionality, content, and lastly visual design.

Below we are going to have a look at some UX concepts that can be used to build a good looking and an easy to use app:

  • Interaction design
Interactions are categorized as every action, scroll or even a click that is taken on the site by the user and this is what forms an integral part of User Experience. Therefore if the user is unable to have a successful interaction with the site, then they have a negative experience in the site. Interaction design basically tries to push boundaries of functionality so that every interaction creates a delightful, engaging and a desirable User Experience.
  • Typography
The fonts chosen and how texts are displayed forms a very crucial role in developing a positive User Experience. If the user experiences a slight difficulty in deciphering information on the site they will be negatively impressed which will impact the overall experience. Therefore, the visual language created should be accessible and consistent so that users can be contented.
  • Usability
This concept is the User’s Experience bare minimum since if the site or application is unusable; no one will even attempt to use it. This simply insists that usability is crucial and every system should first and foremost be usable before it can be made desirable.
  • User Interface
Most people often confuse UI with UX and should therefore be appropriately distinguished. As explained earlier, User Interface is simply what the user sees in a site and should therefore be carefully considered in developing a product since it also affects User Experience.
  • Information architecture
This is also another important part of User Experience and refers to the structure creation of the site; In terms of how the information is organization to help users understand what to do and where they are in a product to be able to complete the task. This can be facilitated by installing angular admin templates or bootstrap admin templates.

CONCLUSION

It is therefore very important to consider all these UI and UX concepts so as to be able to build good looking and also easy to use application.
