Can you tell us something about yourself?

When did your interest in graphic design and art started?

Well to be honest, I have always been interested in art ever since I was as young as 7 years old. I remember being in trouble many times with my teachers for not paying attention in class and doodling and drawing on the pages and covers of my books!

My skills later developed from the Art & Design program at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College. I had quite the excellent lecturer Ms. Vonnie Roudette! She further strengthened my interest in the field as I eventually became aware that art can be used for more than just drawing and doodling. It can be a powerful tool for communication and expression! This is when my interest in graphic design began.

Where do you usually find your inspiration?

For me, inspiration comes from what is happening around me; whether it be from current events and trending issues; to my surroundings, from nature or from the culture to which I have been brought up in or exposed. Inspiration also comes from within; from my life and my beliefs, values or things I feel strongly about.

What is the work you are most proud of and why?

I think it would be a charcoal study that I did as part of one of my project images (image below). I call it The Window To My Soul where the subject was looking out through the blinds. It holds such strong feelings of sadness and despair and looking for hope of a brighter moment. This was where I was as a young teen growing up as I struggled with personal issues and so this piece is very close to me.

Career wise, how do you see yourself in five to ten years time?

In five to ten years, I would like to see myself take on more challenging roles and positions and to further improve myself academically so that more options would be open for me. I also would like to go into the film and animation area as well.
